The VIII Paterna City of Business Awards recognize the research and innovative trajectory of Evolving Therapeutics and PersiSKIN

The companies Evolving Therapeutics and PersiSKIN, located in the University of Valencia Science Park (PCUV), were awarded in the eighth edition of the awards that promote and recognize the technological and industrial potential of the capital of Horta Nord

Paterna, in whose innovative pole is located the University of Valencia Science Park (PCUV), held last Thursday, December 14 in the Kinepolis space, the Paterna City of Business Awards. This evening stands as a meeting point for the local and provincial business network. Specifically, in the eighth edition of these awards, the City Council of Paterna in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Valencia, recognized the trajectory of eight companies located in the Valencian municipality with a check of 500 euros from CCV to invest in training.

Among the award winners, the biotech company Evolving Therapeutics, installed in the PCUV, was distinguished with the award for Best Startup among the more than 150 in Paterna that guarantee the future of a very efficient business fabric. The award, presented by Juan Lucas Jodar, Councilor for Commerce and Smart City of the City of Paterna, was collected by Maria Luisa and Pilar Domingo-Calap, co-founding sisters of the spin-off and Amanda Martinez, Lab Manager.

Evolving works with the aim of transferring to the market a customized environmental bacteriophage isolation system aimed at tackling the problem of antimicrobial resistance. "We have been working on this for many years and the fact that the city where we work values it is a source of pride for us," says Pilar Domingo-Calap.

In the category of Best Research and Innovative Career, an award that was presented by Fernando Mª Zárraga, manager of the Fundació Parc Científic de la Universitat de València (FPCUV), the winning company was PersiSKIN, whose CEO, Jaime Sanfélix, received the award. It is a company linked to the PCUV and dedicated to offering a solution to the surplus of Valencian persimmon through the manufacture of vegan textiles.

The rest of the awards recognized the work of Aquaservice, Special Jury Award; MIRACO, Best Sustainable and Socially Responsible Company; Merche Navarro Alberola, executive director of ELE-KA, won the Woman Entrepreneur Award; Casa Toni Restaurant, Best Local Micro-SME; BRAINSTORM, Best International Projection Award; and AZNAR TEXTIL, Best Business Trajectory Award.

Paterna, innovative epicenter of the Valencian Region

The event was closed by the mayor of the municipality and senator of Spain, Juan Antonio Sagredo, who highlighted the city's business leadership, which makes it "a city of the future". He added that "innovation and being at the forefront are the two main factors that allow us to remain leaders in the business sector".

In addition, the mayor of the Valencian municipality highlighted the diversity of Paterna companies that either dye jeans with laser, or manufacture leather with the remains of the persimmon; without forgetting that Paterna has the largest data center in the Valencian Community. All of them have made it possible for the city has the highest rate of activity in the region and is the twelfth most productive city in Spain. In addition, Sagredo highlighted the commitment of the consistory to improve its industrial areas, since "we have the desire to be more and better."
