News # Science and Technology for Women returns to science and technology parks with an inaugural conference at Parc Tecnològic Paterna 09/11/2023 Share this news: - ![](https://news.pcuv.es/hubfs/Blog/images/share.svg) - ![](https://news.pcuv.es/hubfs/Blog/images/printer.svg) ![](https://news.pcuv.es/hubfs/JORNADA%20INICIO%206%20EDICION%20CYT.png) ## The 6th edition of the Science and Technology for Women initiative that seeks to inspire scientific and technological vocations among young women promoted by the Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE) will return on November 13 with a conference at the Parc Tecnològic Paterna that will bring together representatives of science and technology parks, institutions and educational centers of Paterna [Science and Technology for Women](https://www.apte.org/inicio-6--edicion-de-ciencia-y-tecnologia-en-femenino--13-de-noviembre-) is an initiative of the [Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE)](https://www.apte.org/en), to which the [Science Park of the University of Valencia (PCUV)](https://www.pcuv.es/en/home) belongs, which aims to promote scientific and technological vocations, in order to reduce the gender gap in STEAM studies. The conference, which will also be broadcast via [YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sx3BtyROBI), will start with the presence of Felipe Romera, president of APTE; Antonio Alagarda, president of the EGM Parc Tecnològic Paterna, Francisca Periche, councilor of Citizen Participation of the City of Paterna and Nani Fernandez, director of Institutional Relations Orange Spain. During the session, a round table will be held in which some of the science and technology parks participating in the project will talk about their experience in the program and about the work of the parks as drivers of STEAM vocations. Participants will include: Bel Llodra, project technician at Parc balear d'innovació tecnològica (ParcBit), Alejandro Colonques, project technician at Espaitec, Parc Científic i Tecnològic de la Universitat Jaume I de Castelló, Manuela Pedraza, manager of the EGM Parc Tecnològic Paterna and Piroska Matos, Technological Programs Technician at the Parque Científico Tecnológico de Gijón. > The 6th edition of the initiative Science and Technology for Women, which seeks to inspire scientific and technological vocations among young women promoted by the Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE) will return on November 13 with a conference at the Parc Tecnològic Paterna Afterwards, four outstanding STEAM professionals from the Parc Tecnològic Paterna environment will tell their experience and will delve into some of the aspects that lead many girls to decide not to opt for studies related to science and technology. The round table will feature: Patricia Pons, Researcher at ITI, a private technology center specialized in ICT, in the field of immersive technologies and natural user interfaces; Samira Khodayar, director of the Meteorology and Climatology area of the Center for Environmental Studies of the Mediterranean (CEAM); Laura Martí, leader of the decarbonization group at AIMPLAS, Technological Institute of Plastics and Mayte Gil, CEO of Sistemas Genómicos (Synlab group). Attendees will also be able to visit the exhibition 'Women who changed and change the world' and will receive the illustrated guides 'What are disruptive technologies' and 'What do I want to be when I grow up', which in this edition are sponsored by Orange.
