The multinational ADM Biópolis, located in the Science Park of the University of Valencia (PCUV), consolidates its position as a pioneering and innovative driving force in the food and human and animal nutrition sector with the opening of a new production plant in Carcaixent, the first facility in the world to produce probiotics and postbiotics in the same place.
The reference company in the field of Valencian biotechnology ADM Biópolis, located in the innovation business ecosystem at the University of Valencia Science Park, continues on its growth path with the opening of a pioneering plant in the Valencian municipality of Carcaixent. The investment, which amounts to 30 million euros, will increase the company's production capacity at the PCUV fivefold.
This new 2,400 square meter factory is expected to achieve an output of 50 tons of product per year as of 2026, reaching maximum production capacity. In addition, despite its recent opening this February, the team confirms that there is ambition to carry out future expansions and further expand the business in the Valencian territory. In this way, ADM takes another step forward in its geographical strategy and reaches a total of five plants in the Iberian Peninsula, in addition to the more than 300 distributed worldwide, with the main focus on China, the United States and Europe. In fact, in 2022 the company exceeded 100 billion dollars in global turnover for the first time.
At the Parc Científic, the company develops previous studies that provide accurate information for the execution of the clinical trial, evaluating the reactions of organisms and cells to the ingredients in order to choose the most suitable one

Sustainability, security and well-being
"There are three forces that will be the pillars of growth: sustainability, food security and health and wellness. In this plant, we will be leveraging the last one. Increasingly, consumers are evolving, connecting what we drink and eat with how we feel. As a result, we need access to products with functional properties that are beneficial to our health and improve our sense of well-being," says Francisco Climent, VP Global Heath & Wellness - Food and Beverage and Country Manager.
Daniel Ramón, founder and CEO of Biópolis, emphasizes the impact that diet has on human health: "After analyzing comments from parents of children with celiac disease, we realized that a very high percentage of children suffering from this pathology have recurrent dermatitis and we began to think that there could be a problem of inflammation in the digestive tract that increased these imbalances. We analyzed their digestive microbiome and confirmed it. From there we developed a mixture of probiotics with a strong anti-inflammatory effect, did a clinical trial and it worked. Today this product is marketed in many countries". This is why, Ramón points out, diet changes the microbiota and influences the efficacy of drugs.

The company will maintain its same work philosophy at the Parc Científic, where preliminary studies are carried out to provide accurate information for the subsequent execution of the clinical trial, evaluating the reactions of organisms and cells to the ingredients in order to choose the most suitable one. In addition to this task, the production capacity has been boosted with the creation of the new plant in Carcaixent, which will be key to satisfying the growing demand for probiotics.
