During the day, the Universitat de València presented reference innovation projects in the health sector, which were presented first-hand by its teaching and research staff. Among the representatives of the Universitat de València who participated in the conference were Manuel Martínez Corral, professor of the Department of Optics, Ismael Mingarro Muñoz, professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Nuria Cabedo Escrig, PDI of the Department of Pharmacology, Luís Martínez Gil, PDI of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Óscar Pellicer Valero, researcher of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Julio Madrigal Matute, researcher at the Department of Preventive Medicine, and Aida Robles Fort, researcher at the Department of Genetics.
Also, in the exhibition area of companies was the presence of spin-offs from the University of Valencia as WF Imaging Technologies, Evolving Therapeutics and Opticalsens.
The event concluded with the presentation of awards in the Startups competition, which was won by two initiatives from the University of Valencia.
In the category of incorporated companies, the recognition went to the spin-off Evolving Therapeutics, presented by Pilar Domingo-Calap, researcher at the Institute of Integrative Systems Biology (i2SysBio). The recognition in the category of unconstituted business projects corresponded to the project "Translational Pharma Solutions" presented by Irene González Martínez, researcher from the UV Genetics Department.
The two winning initiatives will receive expert advice in an area of interest (legal, regulatory and/or strategy and business model aspects), as well as access to investment for the form of incorporated companies. Free membership for one year will also be offered to BIOVAL, the Association of Companies and Entities in the Biotechnology sector of the Valencian Community.
