The company dedicated to global solutions for plant health and plant genetics, located in the Science Park of the University of Valencia (PCUV), participates for the third consecutive year with its own stand at Fruit Attraction, the leading trade fair for the fruit and vegetable sector in Spain

As part of the Biotech Attraction innovation hub, ValGenetics, a Valencian company located in the facilities of the University of Valencia Science Park (PCUV), participated in the recent edition of the Fruit Attraction fair. During the event, the company provided essential information to understand how science can revolutionize the agri-food sector. Also in this edition, the company was part of the Biotech Attraction Day, a Biovegen forum that broke attendance records and consolidated itself as one of the largest of the fair.

Miguel Morard, director of the bioinformatics unit of ValGenetics, presented an informative talk on the principles of bioinformatics and its important role in the agriculture of the future. Dr. Morard explained that these methodologies are especially useful both in the development of highly sensitive techniques for disease diagnosis and for obtaining faster and more economical breeding programs, as well as raising the specificity of varietal identification. "Bioinformatics is also used in the registration of biostimulant and biocontrol microorganisms," he said.

At Biotech Attraction, ValGenetics gave two informative talks about the application of scientific methodologies aimed at solving agricultural problems

Together with the Valencian Institute of Agricultural Research (IVIA), the PCUV company also participated in the Biotech Attraction Forum, where it presented a talk on the sweet potato revolution in agriculture. During the presentation, experts from ValGenetics and IVIA shared the conclusions of a crucial research project to cultivate plants of this species with high sanitary quality and genetic traceability. The experts discussed how it was possible to optimize early detection of pathogens in the field and generate virus-free mother plants. With this, ValGenetics aims to offer the sector a differentiated sweet potato with high added value for the food industry.

"ValGenetics' participation in Fruit Attraction 2023 is evidence of its commitment to innovation. As a private research laboratory, it hopes to continue contributing to the advancement of the agricultural sectors through science and technology with the services it offers to the market," the company emphasizes.
