IVAC-Instituto de Certificación, the first accredited European entity to certify Data Protection Delegates

The company IVAC-Instituto de Certificación, located in the University of Valencia Science Park, has obtained the accreditation of the National Accreditation Entity (ENAC) to certify Data Protection Delegates (DPD) in accordance with the AEPD-DPD scheme of the Spanish Agency for Data Protection (AEPD). Therefore, it has become the first European certification entity to obtain the definitive accreditation to issue DPD/DPO certificates in Spain.

This accreditation allows IVAC-Certification to issue certificates for the DPD category as well as to recognize training programs that teach the requirements of the AEPD-DPD Scheme.

The Spanish Agency for Data Protection, a pioneer at European level in promoting the DPD certificate, has allowed to establish a procedure for obtaining a degree with guarantees for the exercise of the profession in the field of privacy established by the Protection Regulation. of Data (RGPD), applicable since May 25.

The figure of the DPD

Professionals accredited by IVAC-Instituto de Certificación as DPD may practice throughout the community space. According to the European regulation, the public administration, security companies, hospitals and schools are some of the institutions that are obliged to have this figure, who supervises the processing of data in an organization. The standard requires that this professional, who may be internal or external to the management team, should have knowledge of rights and practice in data protection. Certification is not required for the practice of the profession, but offers a frame of reference regarding the qualities that a DPD should have.
