The University of Valencia Science Park Foundation (FPCUV) and the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation of Valencia have agreed today to establish a stable collaboration to promote and disseminate the use of the Court of Arbitration and Mediation of the Chamber in the resolution of conflicts and divergences that may arise in the field of business relations.
The agreement has been signed by the president of the Board of the FPCUV, the principal of the University of Valencia, María Vicenta Mestre, and by the president of the Court of Arbitration and Mediation of Valencia, Silvia Barona, who has acted on behalf of the presidency of the Chamber of Commerce of the province.
The text commits both entities to jointly organize and disseminate training actions that help promote the arbitration and mediation culture. In addition, it includes the possibility that the FPCUV proposes the incorporation of professionals and entrepreneurs to act as arbiters and mediators in the court.
In this regard, the president of the Court of Arbitration and Mediation, Silvia Barona, has stressed that "unlike a judge, arbitrators and mediators are specialists in the matters of conflict. In addition to this, we are talking about two tools that are characterized by the independence, rigor and training of the cast of professionals of the court."
For its part, the president of the FPCUV and principal of the University of Valencia, Maria Vicenta Mestre, has underlined that this type of agreement "join efforts to improve services to companies installed in the Science Park, which we can train in the use of mediation and arbitration."
This agreement will take effect tomorrow, one day after the signing, and will be valid for one year, although it may be extended for successive annual periods.
