The Network of Valencian Science Parks celebrates the gala of the VI "rePCV Awards"

The Polytechnic City of Innovation, science park of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, will host the ceremony of the VI rePCV Awards on July 11 at 12h. For the sixth consecutive year, companies linked to the R+D+i ecosystem of the Valencian public universities will collect the awards of the Network of Valencian Science Parks (rePCV) in the categories "Spin-off Award", "Start-up Award" and "Business-University Collaboration Award"

Of the more than 300 companies linked to the five Valencian science parks, a total of 39 companies have submitted their applications for the awards. The call has three categories: "Spin-off Award", "Start-up Award" and "Business-University Collaboration Awards". Each award category will have one winner and up to two runner-up prizes for each category.

The award winners will be announced through publication on the rePCV awards website. The gala and formal presentation of the rePCV awards will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 12h in a public event in the auditorium of the blue cube, building 8B, of the Polytechnic City of Innovation, science park of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). A gala of innovation and entrepreneurship at the university

The specific purpose of these awards is to recognize the activity of entrepreneurial and business initiatives linked to Valencian public universities in the Valencian Community, based on their growth, innovative character, business strategy and contribution to the environment. The gala awards ceremony of the VI awards of the rePCV will open with the welcome of Juan Vicente Capella, managing director of the Polytechnic City of Innovation (UPV), Juan José Cortés, general director of Innovation, GVA and Tonia Salinas, president of the Network of Valencian Science Parks. Subsequently, Juan José Cortés, general director of Innovation and Ester Olivas, general director of Entrepreneurship and Internationalization of the GVA will present the new IVACE+i lines for companies and innovation.

The event will feature a presentation by Mayte Bacete, director of Maxlinear Hispania and president of the Valencia Silicon Cluster. Mayte will give a first-hand account of a successful case of collaboration between the university and the company. In addition, the agenda of the gala includes the performance of Francisco Pedroche, researcher at the University Institute of Multidisciplinary Mathematics (IMM) and winner of the First Contest of Scientific Monologues UPV. After the awards ceremony, the gala will be closed by Salvador Coll, vice-rector of Innovation and Transfer UPV and María Esther Gómez Martín, regional secretary of Universities, GVA. At the end of the gala, the networking lunch will take place in the hall of the blue cube of the Polytechnic City of Innovation. The venue will exhibit a selection of UPV start-ups and spin-offs that participants will be able to visit at their stands.

Rewarding entrepreneurial and business initiatives

The specific purpose of this call is to reward and recognize the activity of entrepreneurial and business initiatives based on their growth, innovative character, business strategy and contribution to the environment.

With these awards, the rePCV seeks to contribute to the development and consolidation of companies created and developed with the support of the five Valencian science parks. It also seeks to promote and strengthen the entrepreneurial spirit in the five Valencian science parks and to promote and strengthen university-business relations.

The initiative is part of the framework of the agreements signed by the Regional Ministry of Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism with the science parks of the public universities of the Valencian Community to strengthen interconnection in the Valencian scientific, technological and business fields.

The awards will consist of honorary trophies, of which one prize and up to two runner-up prizes will be awarded for each category. Companies that win the award in each of the three categories will be entitled to apply for up to two tickets to Transfiere 2025. Additionally, the Polytechnic City of Innovation as the organizing park of the sixth edition of the rePCV Awards, plans to offer the winning companies the opportunity to participate in the Valencia Digital Summit 2024, an international technology meeting.

Spin-off, start-up and company-university collaboration awards

The first category of awards, "Spin-off Award", seeks to recognize companies promoted by Teaching and Research Staff (PDI), PhDs or doctoral students that have been created from the exploitation of research results and are linked to any of the Valencian science parks.

For its part, the "Start-up Award" category is aimed at innovative companies promoted by students or alumni of any of the Valencian public universities. These companies must be located in or linked to any of the Valencian science parks and be incorporated after June 30, 2019.

Likewise, the "Business-University Collaboration Award" is aimed at companies that participate with any of the Valencian public universities in R&D programs and/or projects whose results have contributed to the establishment of a close and continuous collaborative relationship, as well as to the development of the Valencian economy.

The formal presentation of the awards will take place at the gala held in a public ceremony in the auditorium of the blue cube of the Polytechnic City of Innovation on Thursday, July 11, 2024, starting at 12:00 noon.
