The University of Valencia Science Park launches a photovoltaic solar car park

This installation allows the recharging of four electric vehicles and generates photovoltaic solar energy, which favours clean mobility and the production of sustainable energy.

The Smart Park project of the Fundació Parc Científic Universitat de València aims to promote the transfer of knowledge and technology in renewable energies by companies and R&D groups of the University, using its facilities as a proof of concept for new innovative products and services. The results may be replicable and exportable to other urban and social contexts.

The first of these has been the implementation of a solar car park consisting of 33 photovoltaic modules of 330 watts that allow the charging of up to four electric vehicles. Another of the innovative solutions to be implemented in this Smart Park in 2021 will be the monitoring and analysis of the management of energy resources in the different buildings of the PCUV.

Turning the park into a living-lab will make it possible to evaluate technological innovations, while analysing the social barriers that may occur in the implementation of these systems in urban environments. This will be done in a controlled space with a considerable critical mass of users.

This project enables the collaboration of research groups from the University with companies in the development of proofs of concept and the co-creation of new products; in this way, it can be a showcase for SMEs and startups to showcase their sustainable service offerings.

Challenges in Sustainable Habitat

Smart Park is a project funded by the Agència Valenciana de la Innovació within the framework of the "Healthy Habitat" priority area. It responds to two of the challenges identified by its Strategic Committee for Specialised Innovation: the optimisation of information and data analysis systems for buildings and the interior of dwellings and the reduction of excessive energy consumption with the aim of achieving buildings with almost zero energy consumption.
