Eugenio Coronado, director of ICMol, receives the JSCC International Prize from the Japanese Coordinating Chemical Society

The award, one of the most prestigious in the field, recognizes the outstanding scientific career of the Valencian researcher and his contributions to the advancement of molecular materials chemistry

Professor of Inorganic Chemistry and director of the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol), research center of the University of Valencia Science Park (PCUV), Eugenio Coronado, has been awarded the International JSCC Prize, awarded by the Japan Coordinating Chemical Society (JSCC). The award, one of the most prestigious in the field, recognizes the outstanding scientific career of the Valencian researcher and his contributions to the advancement of molecular materials chemistry.

The award was officially presented today, 16 September 2025, during a recognition ceremony held at Nagasaki University (Japan), as part of the 75th JSCC Annual Conference. Eugenio Coronado is the first Spanish chemist to receive this distinguished award.

The JSCC International Prize has previously been awarded to world-renowned researchers such as Michael Grätzel, Jean-Pierre Sauvage (2016 Nobel Prize in Chemistry), Omar M. Yaghi and Joel S. Miller, consolidating its status as a first-rate distinction in the field of coordinating chemistry.
