The Association of Scientists of Excellence of the Gen-T Plan (AccenT) has held this week elections for the new board of directors. The candidacy Més AccenT, the only one presented, was elected with 90.48% of the votes in favor. The result of the vote was made public at the general assembly of members that took place in the auditorium of the main building of the University of Valencia Science Park on Monday July 1. The new Board of Directors will take office in early September.
Along with Baldoví, the Més AccenT candidacy is formed by ICMUV researcher Teresa S. Ripollés as vice-president, ICMol researcher Amilcar Bedoya (secretary) and IATA-CSIC researcher Estéfani García Ríos (treasurer). The new board also includes researchers Carlos Doñate (Universitat Jaume I de Castelló), Anabel Morales (IFIC), Eduardo Leyva (CSIC-Universidad Miguel Hernández), Rosa M. Arán (Universidad de Alicante) and Vicente Martí Centelles (Universitat Politècnica de València). "We are a group of researchers of the Gen-T Plan with enthusiasm to continue defending the interests of all the researchers of the association and the consolidation of the program," they explain.
Among the objectives of the new board of directors are the promotion of cohesion among the members of the association to bring science to the whole society of the Valencian Community, as well as strengthening ties with the business community of the same. To this end, they propose a series of events and actions, such as the organization of an annual event in conference format that will take place in the three provincial capitals of the Community of Valencia on a rotating basis, bringing science in an informative way to the county capitals, developing new formats of interaction between high school students and AccenT, participate in the activities of 11F (International Day of Women and Girls in Science), continue the fruitful interaction with the Lab Mediterráneo Foundation and continue the work of interlocutors between our researchers and their respective institutions, as well as with the Valencian Government.
Baldoví took the opportunity to thank the members for their confidence in the project and the entire team of the current board of directors, chaired by Gonzalo Abellán, "for all the work you have done in the creation and management of AccenT during the last few years in an impeccable way". Likewise, the new vice-president Teresa S. Ripollés said: "we are here for you, very excited to be able to defend the interests of all the researchers of the association and the consolidation of the program".
