José Jaime Baldoví, researcher at the Institute for Molecular Science (ICMol), of the scientific-academic area of the University of Valencia Science Park (PCUV), is one of the four winners awarded by the City Council of Xàtiva on the occasion of the Nou d'Octubre. The award is given to individuals and entities that have demonstrated a significant commitment to the benefit of society through their professional work in recognition of their outstanding contributions in the field of science and research
José J. Baldoví, born in Xàtiva in 1986, is a Distinguished Researcher of Excellence of the Gen-T Plan of the Valencian Government and director of the 2D Smart Materials Lab at the Institute for Molecular Science (ICMol), located in the scientific-academic area of the University of Valencia Science Park. His research focuses on the theoretical and computational design of smart molecular devices, integrating physics, chemistry and materials science to explore applications in emerging fields such as magnonics, spintronics and quantum computing.
This same year he was elected president of the Association of Scientists of Excellence of the Gen-T Plan (AccenT) and member of the Spanish Young Academy, as well as being one of the two representatives of Spain in the management committee of the COST SuperQumap Action. His work transcends research, devoting himself to scientific advice and scientific dissemination to bring science closer to society.
Baldoví graduated in Chemistry in 2009, and obtained a Master's degree (2012) and a PhD in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (2016) at the University of Valencia, with extraordinary prize at all stages of his career. Her doctoral thesis was recognized as the best in its category. In 2017 she obtained a prestigious Marie Curie-Sklodowska grant to join the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter in Hamburg, Germany, and subsequently returned to the Community of Valencia through the Plan Gen-T of the Council of Universities, Innovation and Science of the Council of Valencia. Currently, he supervises a multidisciplinary team of 8 researchers and has published more than 70 scientific articles, as well as participating as an invited speaker at numerous international conferences.
The mayor of Xàtiva has praised Baldoví's commitment and his impact in the field of nanoscience, congratulating him for his dedication and continuous academic achievements. For his part, Baldoví said: “I am very proud and grateful for this recognition of the work we do every day, and for all the signs of affection and affection from the citizens of Xàtiva throughout my scientific and academic career.
The award will be presented at a ceremony to be held as part of the celebrations of the Day of the Valencian Community at the Aljama Gate of Xàtiva.
