The researchers of the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol), located in the PCUV, Alberto Montoya Ruiz (group 2DSmartMat - 2D Smart Materials Lab) and Geraldine Sánchez Dueñez (group PRG - Photochemistry Reactivity Group) won first prize for the best business project in Empowering Academia: Cultivating Entrepreneurial Mindsets and Real-World Skills (BIP), held from 8 to 13 September 2025 at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU Mainz), Germany
The Academic Entrepreneurship BIP aims to equip participants with the entrepreneurial skills and knowledge essential for success in academic and professional environments. Over five days of intensive training, the programme combined networking activities, training sessions and practical exercises, culminating in a group presentation of a business idea to an international jury.
This edition involved students from nine European universities, which enabled an environment of multicultural collaboration and exchange of experience between disciplines and countries.
In the final presentation, the team of the Institute for Molecular Science (ICMol), located in the scientific-academic area of the University of Valencia Science Parc (PCUV), won first prize with an innovative project that combines the design of nanodevices based on two-dimensional materials and artificial intelligence tools, with applications in advanced electronics and biomedicine.
