The researcher at the Institute of Corpuscular Physics (UV-CSIC), research institute of the scientific-academic area of the Science Park of the University of Valencia (PCUV), and professor emeritus of the UV, has received the highest distinction of the scientific institution "for his exceptional career in theoretical physics, which has made him a reference in nuclear physics"
Eulogio Oset Báguena, professor emeritus of the University of Valencia (UV) and member of the Institute of Corpuscular Physics (IFIC, CSIC-UV), belonging to the scientific-academic area of the University of Valencia Scientific Park (PCUV), has just received the Medal of the Royal Spanish Society of Physics (RSEF) in recognition of merit in the teaching of Physics and his exceptional scientific career in the field of Theoretical Physics.
As stated in the jury's decision, Oset Báguena has been awarded the Medal of the Spanish Royal Society of Physics for his "exceptional scientific career in the field of theoretical physics, which has made him a reference in nuclear physics". In particular, the tribunal has highlighted "his studies of the hadronic spectrum and electroweak responses", valuing the repercussion of these works at international level.
The researcher's leadership capacity has also been one of the points highlighted in the jury's decision, specifically, that which led him to create a school of nuclear and hadron physics from which researchers have emerged who currently hold positions of responsibility in numerous national and international institutions. Finally, the decision also places special interest in the close and permanent collaborations of Eulogio Oset Bágunea with scientific groups from all over the international scene.

Other winners in this edition of the RSEF - BBVA Foundation Awards are: in the Young Researcher in Theoretical Physics category, José Luis Lado Villanueva, assistant professor Tenure-Track at the Department of Applied Physics of the Aalto University (Finland), for his contribution to theoretical and computational physics of materials, in particular, to the study of emergent phenomena and topological properties of quantum materials.
In the Young Researcher in Experimental Physics category, Carla Marín Benito, lecturer at the University of Barcelona, for her experimental work in high-energy physics, beyond the standard model. Her contributions both in data analysis and in the technologies that have been used to improve the LHCb experiment at CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are recognized.
In the Physics, Innovation and Technology category, Valerio Pruneri, ICREA Industrial Professor, president of Corning Inc. and leader of the Optoelectronics group at the Institute for Photonic Sciences, for his internationally outstanding scientific and technological career at the intersection of materials physics and photonics.

The Teaching and Dissemination of Physics categories, in the Secondary and University categories, went to Francisco Savall Alemany, Physics and Chemistry teacher at IES Veles e Vents del Grau in Gandia (Valencia); and to José Benito Vázquez Dorrío, Professor of Applied Physics at the University of Vigo, for his excellent contributions to the teaching and dissemination of physics and, in particular, applied optics.
