More than 90 young scientists from 37 countries in Europe and other parts of the world, including research staff at the Institute for Corpuscular Physics (IFIC), a research centre at the University of Valencia Science Park, met in Benasque to participate in the European School of High Energy Physics 2025, held from 15 to 18 October at the Pedro Pascual Science Center in the aforementioned town of the Aragonese Pyrenees, located at 1,140 meters above sea level
The students, all at their doctoral level, had the opportunity to attend master classes on the latest advances in particle physics given by world-renowned experts in their respective subjects. In addition, each day, the classes were complemented by discussion sessions, where participants could deepen the topics covered with the support of emerging figures in physics, who acted as leaders of the discussion groups.
The programme also included a professional course on scientific communication and dissemination, complemented by a practical project in which the student developed multimedia content designed to present to the general public, in a creative way, the latest developments in the field. Another highlight of the school was an interactive question and answer session with the Director-General of CERN, Fabiola Gianotti, who shared with the students her view on the current state and future prospects of particle physics in Europe and the world.
Salvador Martí García, a member of the Institute of Corpuscular Physics (IFIC), located in the scientific-academic area of the University of Valencia Science Park (PCUV), as well as a scientific researcher at the CSIC and president of the local organizing committee, noted that "has been a pleasure to share these days with young people and experts. The organizational effort has been worthwhile. It is gratifying to see how students have taken advantage of all aspects of the school, and I am happy to think that it has helped improve their training. They will no doubt keep an extraordinary memory of this experience".

Manuel Asorey, professor at the University of Zaragoza, director of the Pedro Pascual Science Centre and member of the school’s local organizing committee, "has been an honor to host this prestigious school driven by CERN for its contribution to the training of future physicists. The combination of classes with discussion sessions has been very effective for all participants. In addition, they have taken advantage of the little free time that they have had to know the stimulating environment of the Aragonese Pyrenees".
Víctor Martín Lozano, also a member of the IFIC, postdoctoral researcher at the University of Valencia and leader of a discussion group, stated that "for young physicists this school allows them not only to learn from the best in their field, but also invites PhD students and doctoral candidates to take the initiative and generate discussions on the topics discussed and be involved in it. This aspect is very important for their scientific training. It also allows them to meet the partners with whom they will share their future research".

The present edition of the European School of High Energy Physics has had a very large participation in Spain in general, and in Valencia in particular, with S. Martí (IFIC) and M. Asorey (U. Zaragoza) on the organizing committee; V. M. Lozano (IFIC), accompanied by J. Fuentes (U. Granada) and C. Murgui (CERN) as discussion group leaders, plus D. Blas (IFAE), J. Fuster (IFIC), J.I. Illana (U. Granada), A. Moralejo (IFAE), M. Tórtola (IFIC), and A. Soto (U. Granada) as speakers.
The European School of High Energy Physics is organized each year in a CERN member state, following a long tradition of similar courses dating back to the 1960s. This edition, the 2025 one, represents the fourth time that it is organized in Spain. The venues of previous editions were: El Escorial (1968), Mallorca (1990) and Sant Feliu de Guíxols (2004).
