The TeV Particle Astrophysics (TeVPA) conference series has celebrated its 20th anniversary in Valencia, in an edition organized by research staff from various groups of the Institute of Corpuscular Physics (IFIC), joint centre of the Superior Council for Scientific Research and the University of Valencia located in the UV Science Park
TeVPA started in 2005 at the Fermilab US laboratory. Since then, it has taken place annually (except in 2020) at venues on four different continents. This year it was held for the first time in Spain.
The science programme of TeVPA 2025 has included interdisciplinary aspects of astrophysics, cosmology and particle physics. Among other topics, the conference presented the latest results on neutrino and gamma ray astronomy, direct and indirect dark matter searches or detection of gravitational waves and cosmic rays.
Some of the leading international experts reviewed the current status of these issues in the plenary sessions of the conference, which were hosted by the auditorium of the Bancaja Foundation. In the afternoon, there were parallel sessions held at the headquarters of ADEIT, the University-Enterprise Foundation of the University of Valencia. These sessions, five simultaneously during the afternoons of the first four days, included selected presentations from all those submitted by participants. This selection was made by the 24 international conveners from the total of eight thematic blocks in which the parallel sessions were organized.
This edition of TeVPA has broken the series' attendance record, with more than 370 international participants. This success has been highlighted by the local organizing committee, made up of research staff from the two scientific departments of IFIC, both Theoretical Physics and Experimental Physics
The opening of the conference was attended by Nuria Rius Dionis, director of the Institute of Corpuscular Physics (IFIC), research center of the University of Valencia Science Park (PCUV), Amparo Querol Simón (representing the CSIC delegation in the Valencian Community), Carlos Hermenegildo Caudevilla (Vice-Rector for Research of the University of Valencia) and Rafael Sebastián Aguilar (Director General for Science and Research of the Generalitat Valenciana). In this edition, TeVPA offered a total of 29 plenary talks (12 of them given by women), led by leading research staff from Europe, Asia and North America, 280 parallel lectures (approximately 30 per cent of which were given by women) and some 30 posters.
This edition of TeVPA has broken the series' attendance record, with more than 370 international participants. This success has been highlighted by the local organizing committee, made up of research staff from both IFIC’s scientific departments of theoretical physics and experimental physics.
"The effort has paid off. Both the quality and variety of the plenary talks, as well as the distribution and organization of the parallel sessions, have been praised by many participants and by the international scientific committee. Similarly, the venues and social events organized have also received praise. I think it has been a very worthy 20th anniversary of the series," says Sergio Palomares-Ruiz, an IFIC researcher.

For her part, Olga Mena, researcher at IFIC, underlines that "it has really been a very rewarding and emotional experience". "Since 2005, when Gianfranco Bertone and I organized the first conference, TeVPA has grown dramatically, adapting and expanding to topics such as gravitational waves".
Also, IFIC researcher Juan de Dios Zornoza concludes: "I have been to several editions of TeVPA, including the first two, and it has been a great joy to participate now as an organizer and see how it has grown since then. Both for the subjects covered and for the quality of the rapporteurs I think it has been very interesting and fruitful. Now we pass the baton to Japan with pride".
TeVPA 2026 was announced at the end of the conference by its main organizer, Aya Ishihara. The 21st edition of TeVPA will take place in Tendo (Japan) from 30 August to 4 September 2026.
