HYBRIMS receives the second prize in the 5UCV Startup inter-university competition

The spin-off of the University of Valencia (UV) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) will bring to market a biomedical imaging device for real-time cancer biopsy guidance through a technology that combines metabolic and morphological data that allows a much more accurate characterization of tumors

The 5UCV STARTUP awards, funded by the Regional Ministry of Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism, within the aid aimed at promoting the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the Valencian Community, have recognized this year the spin-off (UV-CSIC) Hybrims, dedicated to the design, development, manufacture and marketing of medical devices based on imaging technologies for the accurate diagnosis of cancer.  The University of Valencia has won two awards in the Inter-University Contest Startup 5UCV, which brings together the best business initiatives of the five Valencian public universities, as it was also awarded the startup of students of the ETSE-UV BIOTANK, which presents an innovative and urgent solution to address the challenge of reducing CO2 emissions in ports using microalgae technology. 

HYBRID IMAGING SYSTEMS, S.L. (Hybrims) was represented by Luis Caballero Ontanaya, research scientist at the Corpuscular Physics Institute (IFIC), whose team also includes Francisco Albiol Colomer, Alberto Albiol Colomer, Luis Cortés and Héctor Gardó Martínez.

In the competition, in which consolidated companies (Startup category) and projects in the initial phase (Junior category) have participated, initiatives from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), UA - University of Alicante / Universitat d'Alacant, Jaume I University, Miguel Hernández University of Elche) and the UV itself through its Entrepreneurship Unit (UVemprén) and with the collaboration of the University of Valencia Science Park (Parc Científic de la Universitat de la Universitat de València) have competed.

Entrepreneurial talent 

The aim of the competition is to recognize the best entrepreneurial initiatives arising within the five Valencian public universities, divided into two categories: a startup category, in which companies of a maximum of three years old participate, and a junior category, in which people with an innovative and commercially viable initiative participate.
