IFIC collaborates with the association RED Social Project to bring science closer to people with disabilities

10/10/2024

With the commitment to promote a more inclusive scientific dissemination, the Institute of Corpuscular Physics (IFIC), located at the University of Valencia Science Park, begins this academic year a new collaboration with the Association RED Social Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of people with disabilities and their families

Both entities had already collaborated in the past through a guided visit to the Institute of Corpuscular Physics (IFIC) for RED Social Project partners, but the health crisis caused by the 2020 global pandemic suspended these co-organized activities.

The collaboration between IFIC and this charitable association, promoted by IFIC scientist José Salt Cariols, promises to bring science and, in particular, the institute's research areas to people with disabilities who are members of the association. The planned initiatives include outreach talks given by IFIC research staff at the association, as well as guided tours of the institute. During these visits, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about IFIC's facilities, the research projects being carried out and the experimental laboratories it houses.

Last Thursday, October 3, IFIC once again welcomed a small group of people with disabilities belonging to the association for a guided tour of the institute.

About RED Social Project

The main objectives of the Association RED Social Project are to improve the quality of life of people with physical, organic, sensory, sensory, intellectual or mental disabilities, and to defend their rights. One of its main challenges is to ensure that the digital divide does not become a factor of exclusion, but a tool for inclusion. This effort is materialized in projects such as RAMPA DIGITAL or WEB ACCESSIBLE. Through innovative projects, RED Proyecto Social fights against the digital divide in people with disabilities and promotes their social inclusion.
