Gustau Camps-Valls, Andrés Cervantes and Domingo Ribeiro Soriano, researchers at the University of Valencia (UV), are included in the Highly Cited Researchers (HCR) 2024, a ranking of the bibliometric data provider Clarivate Analytics, which includes the world's scientific elite in terms of the number of citations of their research papers
Camps-Valls, a researcher at the Image Processing Laboratory (IPL), located at the University of Valencia Science Park, stands out in geosciences; Cervantes, in Clinical Medicine; and Ribeiro has multidisciplinary impact. Highly Cited Researchers is an annual list that selects the most influential specialists from around the world for their exceptional research performance, measured by the production of highly cited articles that are in the top 1% in number of citations per field per year in the Web of Science Core Collection. The 2024 list captures their scientific output during the period 2013-2023 in one or more of the 21 fields used. In this edition, the list contains 6886 researchers.
Gustau Camps-Valls is professor of Electronic Engineering at UV and coordinator of the Image and Signal Processing (ISP) research group, a group of 50 researchers on artificial intelligence for image, signal and data processing. His contributions focus on the development of machine learning algorithms for the analysis of remote sensing, earth observation and geoscience data. He is the author of more than 300 papers in international journals, has coordinated more than 20 international research projects, is the holder of an ERC Consolidator Grant project and is currently in charge of a Synergy Grant project -also from the European Research Council- to improve climate models with AI and Earth system data.
Andrés Cervantes is Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Valencia, Head of the Medical Oncology Service at the University Clinical Hospital of Valencia and Scientific Director of the Health Research Institute (INCLIVA). He focuses his research on gastrointestinal neoplasms and the development of innovative treatments for cancer. His latest studies focus on the role of liquid biopsy as a precision medicine tool in oncology. He is principal investigator of projects funded by the Carlos III Health Institute of the Spanish Ministry of Health and by the European Union, as well as by other public and private entities. He has published more than 600 articles and reviews in different international journals, and is editor of the journal Cancer Treatment Reviews and president of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO).
Domingo Ribeiro-Soriano is Professor of Business Organization at UV, coordinator of the PhD program in Social Economy and co-director of the institutional Chair DACSA-UV Group of Excellence and Development in Entrepreneurship: from Student to Entrepreneur. His research affiliation is at the University Institute for Research in Social Economy, Cooperativism and Entrepreneurship (IUDESCOOP). His contributions focus on entrepreneurship, consulting, innovation and technology. He is the author of more than 150 articles in international journals and has coordinated 6 European projects. He was the founder of the network of Bancaja-Young Entrepreneurs Chairs. He has belonged to different commissions of ANECA, as well as to Autonomous Agencies of University Quality.
