Matching Parc drives knowledge transfer in artificial intelligence, healthy longevity and energy and water in 2025

15/01/2026

The Matching Parc program has closed its 2025 edition, consolidating itself as a strategic initiative of the University of Valencia Science Park (PCUV) to encourage collaboration between universities and companies. Three sectoral meetings focused on artificial intelligence, healthy longevity and energy and water were held throughout the year, bringing together innovative companies, start-ups, research groups and transfer agents with a common goal: transform knowledge into solutions with real impact.

The programme of the University of Valencia Science Park Foundation (FPCUV) has been designed as a collaborative work space, combining short presentations, presentation of skills and needs, and qualified networking aimed at activating new collaborations in R&D&i projects. In this edition, Matching Parc has been divided into three thematic sessions, each focused on a strategic area and designed to address specific challenges from an applied and multidisciplinary perspective.

The first session, dedicated to artificial intelligence, focused on the analysis of this technology as a transversal tool for process improvement, decision-making and development of new business models, addressing key aspects such as data governance, ethics, interoperability and the availability of advanced infrastructures.

The second session, focusing on healthy longevity, emphasized scientific and biotechnological research applied to aging, highlighting the need for integrative approaches that combine prevention, exercise, nutrition, digital health and knowledge transfer to the clinical and business environment.

Finally, the third session, focusing on energy and water, addressed the challenges of ecological transition from a systemic perspective, highlighting the interdependence between both resources and the opportunity to develop innovative solutions based on sustainability, circular economy and digitalisation.

In addition, the FPCUV has published a report on the Matching Parc programme, which covers the development and main conclusions of the three sessions held, with the collaboration of Verónica Larrieux (Armoniats), Lorena Ponce (Sabartech/Overgenes) and Daniel Ramón Calvo (Darwin Bioprospecting Excellence), as well as with a final section of general conclusions and perspectives.

Artificial intelligence: infrastructure, ethics and real applications

The first session of Matching Parc 2025, dedicated to artificial intelligence, focused on the practical application of these technologies in business and social environments. The meeting brought together companies specialized in data science, machine learning and generative AI, along with research groups from the University of Valencia with experience in advanced data analysis, intensive computing and legal and ethical aspects of artificial intelligence.

During the day there were real cases of AI application in sectors such as industry, health, biotechnology, tourism, agriculture or legal. Key issues such as data sovereignty, privacy, the need for secure computing infrastructures-like certified high performance platforms-and the role of AI as enabling technology to improve processes were addressed, Optimize decisions and generate new services.

It also highlighted the importance of moving towards responsible AI models aligned with social values, as well as the opportunity to connect research talent with specific business needs.

Healthy longevity: translational science and integrated solutions

The second session, focused on healthy longevity, highlighted the cross-cutting nature of this challenge and its enormous potential as an area for innovation. The meeting brought together biotechnology companies in the field of health and nutrition, along with research groups specializing in aging, physical exercise, metabolism, genetics, microbiome and digital health.

The conference covered strategies for preventing unhealthy aging, the role of microbial biotechnology, personalized nutrition and exercise as a therapeutic tool, as well as the development of digital solutions aimed at monitoring and improving quality of life.

One of the highlights was the need to strengthen translational research, facilitating the transition from the laboratory to the market and clinical environment. In this sense, the meeting made it possible to identify opportunities for collaboration between basic research, start-ups and entities of the health system, with the objective of developing scalable solutions based on scientific evidence.

Energy and water: innovation for sustainable transition

The third session of Matching Parc 2025 addressed energy and water challenges together, highlighting the interdependence between the two areas and their key role in ecological transition. The meeting brought together companies from the integral cycle of water, renewable energies, biogas and biomethane, along with research groups specialized in advanced materials, chemical processes, environmental biotechnology and digitization.

Innovative solutions in waste recovery, biogas production, water treatment and reuse, sludge reduction, new materials for energy storage and conversion were presented during the day, as well as artificial intelligence applications to optimize energy and hydraulic processes.

Regulatory challenges, industrial scale and social acceptance were also addressed, highlighting the need to combine technological innovation with governance models and public-private partnerships that facilitate the real implementation of these solutions in the territory.

An action-oriented connecting space

Beyond the sectoral content, the program’s differential value has been its participatory format, which has favoured direct exchange between companies and research staff. Sessions have identified synergies, shared specific needs and laid the groundwork for future joint projects.

In the words of Pedro Carrasco, director of the University of Valencia Science Park, «Matching Parc has established itself as a strategic space to bring the research generated at the University of Valencia and the Science Park closer to the real needs of companies and society. The objective is to facilitate that knowledge be transformed into projects, collaborations and solutions with impact».

Carrasco also pointed out that «the areas covered in this edition clearly reflect the great current innovation challenges and highlight the capacity of the Valencian scientific and business ecosystem to address them from a cooperative perspective».

For her part, Kristin Suleng, coordinator of the Matching Parc programme and technician responsible for the PCUV’s Communication Area, highlighted that «The programme is conceived as a close and useful space where participants can get to know each other, share real challenges and start building partnerships based on trust and mutual knowledge».

Institutional support and programme continuity

The Matching Parc programme is developed within the framework of the Nominative Line 2025, Line 1: Promotion of the transfer of knowledge and technology between universities and enterprises, and has the support of the Council of Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism of the Generalitat Valenciana.

With the closing of the 2025 edition, the University of Valencia Science Park reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting this type of initiatives, aimed at connecting science, business and territory and generating innovation with social, economic and environmental impact.
