The prizes of the audiovisual contest for the promotion of scientific dissemination promoted by the University of Valencia Science Park Foundation (FPCUV), which has the support of the Department of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society, will be awarded on Saturday May 6 during the day of Expociència

The Fundació Parc Científic de la Universitat de València (FPCUV) has announced this Tuesday the two winning videos of the scientific video contest, Media100cia. It is an initiative framed in the XV edition of Expociència, in which both university and non-university students have been invited to create videos of a maximum of 100 seconds long and always with science as the main narrative justification. "The contest has the vocation to encourage younger people to start at an early age in the popularization of science," recalls Encarna Torres, coordinator of the Expociència program at the FPCUV.

The call has two modalities, university and non-university.  In the first one, the winner was the proposal Levaduras: 3, 2, 1... ¡Acción!,  by Cristina Ros, nd in the second, the video ¿Qué pasaría si...?, made by the 3rd and 4th grade students of the Jesús-María Fuensanta school.

"The contest aims to encourage young people to start at an early age in the popularization of science", recalls Encarna Torres, coordinator of the Expociència program at the FPCUV.

The jury, when issuing the decision, has valued aspects such as originality, creativity, audiovisual production, narrative resources and informative content. In all these points the two winning videos have excelled over the rest of the proposals, which will receive on Saturday, May 6, during the celebration of Expociència, each of them a prize valued at 250 euros.

The third edition of the contest has had a jury formed by Pedro Carrasco, director of the Science Park; Kristin Suleng, head of Communication and Marketing of the FPCUV; Sebastián Sánchez, professor of Audiovisual Communication at the University of Valencia; and Álvaro Olavarría, producer of Ukemotion Producciones Audiovisuales.

This year, in the university category, the winning video was Levaduras:  3, 2, 1... ¡Acción!, n which the predoctoral student of the Universitat de València, Cristina Ros, shows the different applications of such a common ingredient in everyday life as yeast, and shows its use in her research activity.

In the non-university category, the 3rd and 4th grade students of the Jesús María Fuensanta school won the award for their video Qué pasa si..., in which they show the reactions of different materials commonly used in their school's laboratory environment.
