In this new edition of VLC/STARTUP, promoted by the University of Valencia Science Park Foundation (FPCUV) and Banco Santander for the development of innovative or technology-based companies in the environment of the University of Valencia, the University of Valencia Science Park (PCUV) will provide the winning companies with spaces in its facilities: one office, three places in a laboratory and four in the Business Incubators - coworking spaces located on the Tarongers and Burjassot-Paterna campuses. In addition, the PCUV will financially reward the winning startups with 1,000 € in the seedbed modality, 3,500 € for the best valued project in the laboratory modality and 2,000 € for the second and third. Finally, the winner of the office modality will receive an endowment of 3,000€.
Up to eight companies will be installed in the Science Park to develop their innovative projects, as has happened in the previous eight editions with firms such as Arthex Biotech, Darwin Bioprospecting Excellence, NBN23, Orbital EOS or Evolving Therapeutics.
The beneficiary companies of the entrepreneurship program will enjoy their place in the office, laboratory or coworking space free of charge for one year. All modalities include furniture, internet connection, access to a meeting room, guidance for business development and many other services offered by the FPCUV.
In the same way, the awarded initiatives will also be given access to the different entrepreneurship support programs of the entities and organizations of the Universitat de València that collaborate with VLC/STARTUP, such as UVemprén.
The innovative entrepreneurship program of the PCUV has the support of Santander Universities and the Department of Education, Universities and Employment in its mission to encourage the development of innovative and / or technology-based companies in the environment of the University of Valencia.
A consolidated program
As a requirement for the submission of applications, business initiatives of an innovative or knowledge-based nature must be legally constituted and be less than five years old, and not have been beneficiaries of the VLC/STARTUP program in previous editions.
"The aim is to facilitate the launch and promotion of science and technology-based business initiatives generated in the innovative ecosystem of the University of Valencia Science Park," says Fernando Mª. Zárraga, manager of the FPCUV.
Throughout the nine editions of VLC/STARTUP, "the initiative is consolidated in giving a boost to young knowledge-based business projects to start activities in an ideal environment such as the Science Park," says Vicent Clemente, coordinator of the program.
