The Science Park celebrates its Christmas aperitif with scientific monologues and the presentation of the I Influenciadoras Award and the II Christmas Card Contest

The special Christmas event of the University of Valencia Science Park (PCUV) was held on Thursday, December 21 at the Marie Curie Auditorium. During the evening, the work of the women who work at the PCUV was recognized, and the prize was also awarded to the winning Christmas card, which this year went to Sofia Riera, eight years old

This year the University of Valencia Science Park (PCUV) invited all the staff of the research institutes and innovative companies, and the academic community of the University of Valencia, to welcome the Christmas holidays in an event that took place last Thursday, December 21 in the Marie Curie Auditorium of the PCUV.

The celebration began with three monologues by researchers from the academic-scientific and business area of the Science Park. Attendees enjoyed the informative talks by Pilar Domingo-Calap, co-founder of the spin-off Evolving Therapeutics and researcher at the Institute of Integrative Systems Biology (I2SysBio), who showed that bacteria are not all bad during her speech 'Phages, new strategies to combat superbugs'. Later, Jaime Sanfélix, CEO of Laser Food and PersiSKIN delved into the data and curiosities that led him to set up two booming companies. Finally, Francesc Lloret, researcher at the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol) demonstrated the importance of magnets in the monologue 'A magnetic world: the presence of magnets in our lives'.

Subsequently, the work of entrepreneurial and innovative women who develop their professional activity in the Science Park of the University of Valencia was recognized through the I PCUV Influenciadoras Award. In this first edition, thanks to their publications on Linkedin, were awarded the posts of Ana María Pérez, research technician and Lab Manager at Fungia Lab; Ana Andrés, R&D Technician at Grupo Ubesol Laboratorios Maverick; and Sara Bañón, co-founder of Ibions.

Then, the director of the PCUV, Pedro Carrasco, accompanied by two members of the jury of the contest, Juan José Munafó, head of communication of ICMol; and Nicolás Dopazo, head of Communication of IRTIC, presented the prize to the winning card and certificates of participation to the girls and boys who sent their creations to the second edition of the Christmas Card Contest of the FPCUV. The winning card, made by Sofia Riera, 8 years old, was recognized with a gift card of 100 euros in an educational toy store, and also served as a Christmas greeting from the Parc Científic.

To round off the event, Pedro Carrasco, director of the PCUV, gave a Christmas speech in which he conveyed his best wishes for the companies and research institutes located in the Science Park during the holidays and next year 2024. Afterwards, an aperitif was offered to all attendees, who could taste it in the hall in front of the Marie Curie auditorium.
