A University concerned about the employability of its students and which represents the knowledge force that can improve the quality of employment, in tune with the Valencian business fabric. According to the principal Esteban Morcillo, this work summarizes a part of the task of the Universitat de València as a source of knowledge, training and innovation.
This Wednesday the principal has taken part in the inauguration of the sixteenth edition of the Forum of Employment and Entrepreneurship which takes place on 15 and 16 February. The Speaker of the Valencian Parliament, Enric Morea; the General Director of Vocational Education, Marina Sánchez; the General Director of Planning and Services, Eva Hernández; the vice president of the Valencian Provincial Council, Emili Artur and the dean of the faculty have also taken part in the event. All of them have agreed on the importance of the cooperation between the university world and the business world.
Eva Hernández has highlighted the actions that are being carried out by Servef (the Valencian public employment service) to prevent the brain drain and to retrieve specialists who have had to emigrate to other countries. Marina Sánchez, in turn, has also underlined the quality of the vocational education and its link with universities.
Sánchez has reminded that apart from being an itinerary to have access to higher education, it has been detected that there are graduates who enrol in Higher Vocational Certificates to improve their marks. José Manuel Pastor has mentioned the importance of activities such as the Forum which takes place in the Faculty of Economics in order to make visible the relationship between the university and the Valencian productive fabric with whom the professors of the Faculty have a close relationship. Enric Morera, Emili Altur and Esteban Morcillo have agreed in the need of cooperation between the government, the university and the companies in order to improve the employability of the graduates and its quality. Morera has also given a master class in which has spoken on some of the workplace and social challenges with which the citizenship will deal due to the changes that are taking place.
More than 40 activities related to the employment and entrepreneurship will take place in the Faculty for two days. Moreover, the public administrations through their municipal and regional services, large firms of consulting, the banking sector, professional associations and unions will take part in this edition. The Science Park of the UV, the foundations and the University Languages Centre will also participate among others.
