On Friday, May 25, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will begin to be applied. This European legal framework will entail new obligations for small and medium-sized companies. With the aim of analyzing the change in the treatment of customer data and advance the mechanisms of action in the daily management of SMEs, the University of Valencia Science Park Foundation (UVSPF) has organized a training day on May 15, in collaboration with IVAC-Instituto de Certificación, one of the four companies authorized by the AEPD to certify the new figure of the Delegate for Data Protection, and the Gesprodat consultancy. Registration is free through this link.
The trainning day will take place in the Board Room of the Science Park. It will begin at 9:30 with the intervention of Sandra Ausell, legal expert and evaluator of the DPO certificate of the IVAC-Instituto de Certificación. Ausell will address the novelties of the regulation with respect to the current Organic Law for the Protection of Personal Data (LOPD).
Regarding these changes, Susana Català, director of the Gesprodat Consulting Department, will explain how to develop in concrete the plan of action in a small and medium company.
Finally, Miguel Ángel Vila, director of IVAC-Instituto de Certificación, will detail the requirements for the certification of the figure of the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and of the management systems. The position of DPO constitutes one of the key elements of the new GDPR. Its function will be to guarantee compliance with the regulations of data protection in organizations, without replacing the functions developed by the control authorities.
