The Science Park company PersiSKIN, among the 50 finalist startups of the Valencia Digital Summit 2023 Competition

The University of Valencia Science Park Fundation (FPCUV) will be present at this international technological event, on October 26th and 27th at the City of Arts and Sciences, in a stand with the participation of 24 companies from the Science Park after signing a collaboration agreement with VDS 2023

The company based at the University of Valencia Science Park (PCUV), PersiSKIN, a technology-based company in the agri-food sector, is among the 50 finalists of the VDS Competition, after standing out among more than 600 applications submitted. The startup offers an innovative proposal that provides a solution to the solution to the surplus of Valencian persimmon through the manufacture of vegan textiles. The objective of this initiative, in collaboration with Plug and Play, is to find the most disruptive startups in the world that have an outstanding potential and have a positive impact on building a better future.

71% of the selected startups have their origin outside Spain. Specifically, only 14 of those selected are Spanish. The countries that provide the most finalists are the United States, with 12% of the startups, the United Kingdom and France, with 8% each. Meanwhile, 6% of the finalists come from Latin America. Regarding technologies, most of the startups are artificial intelligence (26.1%), followed by big data (13.9%), blockchain (8.7%) and cloud computing (8.4%). In terms of the sector in which they operate, most of the finalists are in software development, 20.66%, followed by Fintech/Insurtech (9.09%), Health/Wellness and Medtech (8.26%), Enterprise/Business (6.61%), Cleantech/Energy and Sustainability (6.61%), Mobile/App (4.96%) and Industry 4.0 (4.96%).

Among the 50 finalist startups, 46% are in seed stage, and more than a third are led by a woman. The selection consists of the following companies: Adaptiv Me, Autoscriber, Beauty Hunter, Bounsel, Bridgewise, CoCircular, Digiphy, Ender Turing, Gelectric, Glucovibes, Imageryst, Legitify, Microgenesis, Online Health Company, SmartStamp, Togal. AI, Uelz, WeavAir, ZIM Connections, 2050 Materials, Beynex, Bumerania Robotics, Cafler, EBHealth3, eBombo, Entropica Labs, eTEU, Fisify, GreyscaleAI, LIUX, Lokalité, Magic, MUU App Nutrition, ni2o, Oinride Oy, Persiskin, Pigro. ai, Quantic Brains, Roiward.io, Sarus, Smart Kiwi, Spendbase, Uitrial, unea, Unibaio, Vidext, Vita Wallet, VoiceMe, Welii and xNova.

In the next phase, a new international jury will choose the 10 finalists of the VDS2023 Competition, composed of Gioia Cerbelli, VP at GPBullhound; Patricia Camarero, Investor at Octopus Ventures; Víctor Navarro, Principal at Yellow VC; Jordi Iserte, Investment Director at Adevinta; Francisco Pinto, Executive Director at Bynd VC; Javier Megias, Managing Partner at Plug and Play; and Alejandra Menéndez, Chief International Officer at Startup Valencia. On October 27 and prior to the closing ceremony of VDS2023, a jury composed of high-level investors and leaders of international corporations will be in charge of selecting the two winners of the sixth edition of VDS: Best Startup Seed and Best Startup Growth.

The winning startups will receive different prizes, including an exhibition space for the 2024 edition of Valencia Digital Summit, and will benefit from the networking and business promotion opportunities offered by an international event such as VDS. The competition will also boost the visibility of the top 50 startups selected by the competition jury.

Collaboration between FPCUV and VDS 2023

In this next edition of the VDS, the FPCUV will have a premium stand thanks to the signing of a collaboration contract with the Valencia Digital Summit, which will benefit 24 companies of the Parc that will also be present there. This activity is part of the Innovation Transfer Exhibition Program (PETI), which is supported by the Agència Valenciana de Innovació (AVI), to disseminate and spread the applied innovation generated by the PCUV business ecosystem to the widest possible range of society, with special emphasis on specific audiences of investors, other innovative companies and startups, corporations and large companies and media.

Among the benefits for companies located in the Park that participate in the event are: up to 3 tickets (personal) Attendee Pass per company to attend and represent your company; printing of your logo on the stand of the Science Park of the University of Valencia (PCUV) and the possibility of being in the stand and receive visitors; access to the APP of the event where you can close meetings 1: 1 meetings with investors or large companies; representation of the company with a speaker in a session (cross-thematic and innovation-related) of 20 minutes in round table or interview format, as well as in pitch format (3 or 5 minute presentations) of companies; the possibility of participating in the Pitch Competition, which gives selected companies the opportunity to present in front of a selected jury of investors; in addition, participating startups will be able to enjoy Expo village, a specific physical space for demonstration and exhibition of your tangible products, prototypes or equipment. Finally, throughout the two days, spaces will be reserved to meet other companies and investors to expand the network through speed dating.

According to Luis Cortés, coordinator of the PETI program, the participation of the Foundation and PCUV companies in this technological event represents "an opportunity to export the Science Park brand, make the work of this innovative hub of the University of Valencia visible and establish bridges for future collaborations with other relevant agents in the field of innovation at the local, state and international level."
