"It is an honour to receive this recognition from the Catalan Chemical Society. I am very grateful to all the people who are part of this journey," says Baldoví. "On the one hand, it is a prize for all the work done during so many years of dedication to chemistry, and on the other hand, it comes at a very nice moment, a very productive stage in which we explore very interesting scientific problems in emerging research fields. Things are being done well," he explains.
José Jaime Baldoví, in addition to group director and guarantor of the Maria de Maeztu Excellence Unit at the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol), located in the scientific-academic area of the Science Park of the University of Valencia (PCUV), is president of the Association of Scientists and Scientists of Excellence of the GenT Plan (ACCENT), number academic of the Young Academy of Spain and teaching staff and researcher of the Department of Physical Chemistry of the UV. Currently leads an ERC Starting Grant project and represents Spain on the COST SuperQumap Action Management Committee. A few weeks ago he was awarded the Young Researcher Award in the group leader modality by the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry.
Chemist by the UV (2009), Master’s degree (2012) and Doctor (2016) in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the ICMol of the UV, he won the extraordinary prize in all stages of his academic life. Postdoctoral researcher Marie Sklodowska-Curie at the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter in Hamburg (Germany) and returned to Valencia thanks to the GenT Plan of the Generalitat. Distinguished researcher of excellence since 2024. Since its inception in research, it has had contracts in very competitive calls and numerous awards.

His research focuses on the development of theoretical and computational frameworks for the chemical design of intelligent devices based on molecular materials and two-dimensional materials. This work integrates physics, chemistry and materials science to explore emerging applications in fields such as magnonics, spintronics, quantum computing and sensing devices. He has published more than 80 articles in international journals, a book chapter and 3 articles for the general public, as well as giving some 40 guest lectures at international congresses and 18 seminars. In addition, he holds a Master’s degree in Scientific Communication which has enabled him to transmit the value of science to society through scientific dissemination.
The prize, consisting of 1000 euros and a diploma, will be awarded on 26 June in Barcelona at the Institute of Catalan Studies. There, Baldoví will give a lecture on the importance of his work and the most relevant results obtained.
